“Funeral” is an image idea that I keep going back to. It first started as an inktober sketch.
I created this inked piece using collage as the base for the drawing. There were a lot of visual issues with the sketch, but I liked the process of making it that I wanted to reattempt it as a painting.
There’s still issues with the image, mainly in how I painted it, but I still like it. It’s one of my favorites from my older work and I think the color and value really added to the mood.
Now I wanted to add something like the painting for my Society6 store, but I needed a design aesthetic for it. I brought in the lilac from the flowers and the simplicity of the ink from the inktober piece and came up with this design.
